The pipeline will take two years to construct and is one of the largest projects of its kind ever undertaken by a UK water company.
Connecting Merseyside and Greater Manchester, the West East Link will enabling us to take water from non traditional sources to supply both areas. Merseyside traditionally receives its clean water supplies from sources in North Wales; and Greater Manchester receives the majority of its water from the Lake District.
The new pipeline enables us to keep the water flowing by moving it around to where it is needed most. Like the aqueducts built by our Victorian ancestors, this will be our legacy to the region for years to come.
